It’s no secret that the last several weeks (particularly this past week) has felt a bit chaotic. COVID-19 has made its way to our city, making the virus so much more than something we see on the news. There has been a strong sense of panic, fear, and anxiety in the air. Store shelves are empty, establishments are closed, and people are out of work.
So, how do we respond in these times of crisis with peace, love, and understanding? There are a few things we can do.

He wants one thing: for you to continually accept and know his love.

Looking for Heroes as Australia Burns

Like many others, my heart is breaking amidst the devastating wildfires in Australia. An estimated 1 billion animals have lost their lives, at least 20 people have perished (but that number is expected to grow), and hundreds of homes are lost. It is in these times that I’ve found that fighting bitterness can be hard. Fighting the anger and the question of “why” consumed me for months as Australia was being consumed by the heat of uncontrollable flame.

While simplifying your holiday season, take time for relationships to thrive, not just survive the holidays. Keep those relationships balanced with your holiday planning. People ARE more important than things at this time of year. The majority of people when asked what makes Christmas feel more meaningful, say it is time spent with those they love, worshipping the God that loves them! But the holiday season can also be a stressful one. Our counseling load always goes up, because people and their relationships are imperfect, but we often want our celebration time to be picture perfect.
