Why Didn't you Say So? Sharing an "Aha" Moment.

charity-waterI've been seeing the yellow jerrycan logo popping up all over the place. Brooke Fraser's birthday present, the Apple website, my worship leaders t-shirt. Charity:Water an interesting start-up, created by a hip, young New York City guy. In checking out their website I discovered a video of the story behind the company, told by founder & CEO of Charity Water, Scott Harrison. Scott is a former party planner, and NYC nightlife guru, paid to be seen drinking Vodka and wearing Rolex watches.

His profile doesn't necessarily sound like a likely person to quit his job, move to Africa with Mercy Ships, and then start a charity to help developing countries get a clean water supply. But on his website he shares his journey of feeling burned out and "spiritually bankrupt" from his NYC socialite lifestyle. Leaving everything he knew behind, he ventured to Africa and encountered poverty for the first time in a very dramatic way. He wondered: "How did I go so long without knowing? Why did I never know before?"

"It's not because I didn't care about the poor. It's not because I was belligerently trying to ignore the need," he said. "I just hadn't been told the right story. I hadn't been exposed to the entire truth."

How many moments have you had like this in your life? When you felt you didn't fully understand what someone said? What was written? How about with God & the Bible? A moment when the light comes on. An "aha" moment. It reminds me of the movie the Truman Show or the Matrix. How much are we really made aware of? Or perhaps, how much are we paying attention to?

I've been a Christian for just over 3 years. 3 amazing years that have taken me down a road I could never have imagined. I grew up in a semi-Christian home. A home that claimed to believe in God but had no relationship with Jesus. When I discovered the truth about Jesus. The truth of what He did for me. The truth about my life story. I felt like Scott. "It's not because I didn't care about God. It's not because I was belligerently trying to ignore Him, I just hadn't been told the right story. I hadn't been exposed to the entire truth."

I felt like I was living in a bubble before, unable to even realize I had a creator.

Is there someone in our lives that needs to be exposed to the truth? Someone who you haven't shared the whole story with? Someone who might need their bubble popped?
