Aren't fireworks spectacular? I'm such a kid! They never get old for me!
I’m so glad my kids got to see them on Canada Day this year, as I know the storms canceled a lot of displays around the capital region, in particular. If you've ever watched fireworks, you know how they light up the darkest parts of the sky with wonder and beauty. But this year, millions of dollars worth of fireworks shells were left in boxes, unused, unable to do what they were meant to do.
In the same way a firework that stays safely tucked away in its box never fulfills its purpose, God didn't place His light in our hearts to keep it hidden.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 5, that our faith is not meant to stay private... EVEN when the storms in life come and make it hard to shine and it's easier - almost safer - to stay hidden.

But you are the light of the world, a city on a hill; Meant to let your life light up with love, kindness, joy... even in the darkness. ‘Cause when rain comes and winds blow, be the reminder that hope is built on The Light that shines through you.
